Bulletproof Named in Top 50!

Bulletproof

The Orange Country Register has named Bulletproof one of the top 50 albums of the decade! The list includes albums by artists including Social Distortion, No Doubt, and the Offspring.

According to the OCR, "A better Stray Cats record probably couldn’t have been cut by re-enlisting Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom themselves. ... Rocker, who long ago made O.C. his home, stuck to his guns –- and with this gem cobbled together a superb batch of neo-authentic ditties and cookin’ covers (like a jumped-up country take on the Beatles’ “I’ll Cry Instead”). All of it serves the revivalist legacy of his former band quite well. "

Happy Holidays and Cheers for a New Year!

Lee RockerIt's been way too long since I've written an update for the Web site, but with the turning of the year it seems like a good time to start. My resolution for 2010 is to keep up on this Web site, write a blog and get someone to hook me up on this Twitter thing I keep hearing about. I  do want to thank everyone who visits here and listens to my music for their encouragement and support through so many years.

2010 is looking like it's going to be a  rockin' year with a new Lee Rocker record as well a a surprise record with some longtime friends. The Lee Rocker record is finished and is titled Midnight Radio. This one's a different kind of thing for me in the song choices and the instruments. All the songs are classic hits from the 1970s. This came about by me thinking back on being a kid growing up in the NYC suburbs, lying in bed at night long after my parents had gone to sleep and listening to this little transistor radio. The songs I recorded are some of the ones I would hear on those long ago nights. I cut versions of "Honkey Cat," "Ramblin' Man," "Come Dancing," "Drivin' my Life Away," "City of New Orleans," "Come Together" and some other tracks I had around that fit the bill. One of the other things that set this record apart from everything else I've done is that most of the songs are acoustic. I used banjo, dobro, harmonicas, auto harps, accordions and percussion, and I played most of the instruments myself. I was helped out by the bulletproof team of Buzz Campbell, Jimmy Sage and Brophy Dale on some of the songs and parts. Those guys are the best and I'm happy to work with em.  We're getting the last details nailed down now and will post here on the website as soon as were ready to take orders for Midnight Radio.

Lots more is coming down the pike so check back here and keep in touch

Lee Rocker's Big Blue Available Now!
This monumental recording is one of Lee Rocker's best records. "Big Blue" was recorded in 1992 in Memphis, Tennessee, the cradle of American music.

"No Cats" and "Atomic Boogie Hour" Now Available!
They're back! After a long, long time, we finally have two of Lee Rocker's best albums available again. No Cats is the pivotal record of Lee's career. This is his first real solo record and is the breakthrough recording, mixing influences from rockabilly to pop to Americana. Guest musicians on No Cats include the legendary piano man, Leon Russell, guitar slinger Elliot Easton (The Cars) and rocker mainstays Mike Eldred and Adrian Demain.

Atomic Boogie Hour
was originally released in 1995 and has also been unavailable for way too long. This classic record was with his blues/rock group Big Blue. Recorded in Austin Texas at Willie Nelson's ranch, Atomic Boogie Hour is a blast of rocking roots music that will make you want to pop a cool one and turn it up loud. We are happy to finally have these records once again available here at leerocker.com
